My friend shared this video to warn other artists about how she was taken advantage of, and I believe this is a very important message that every artist should hear.
I've lost count of how many times someone, be it a big corporation or an individual, have asked me to illustrate for them for free. It will always go something like this "You draw this for us, and we will include your name in the credits. That's good publicity for you!" as if such a pathetic offer holds any merit.
There was one specific case where a guy wanted to use my drawing as a book cover but didn't want to pay. He said he might print up to 50,000 books, so that's like an

hard cold advice from a fandom artist
Just wanna share this awesome list that had been written by Euclase (http://euclase.tumblr.com, but the actual post already deleted) These are trully wonderful list of the truth^^, i kuddos u Euclase bb for your analysis n opinion coz some of them are ironically true:
So I love fanart. I think it's fun. I think it's a great way for someone to learn skills and build confidence in a relatively safe, amateur setting, but sometimes it's not sunshine and butterflies. Fanartists, because of the very visible yet niche nature of their work, are destined to encounter shitbags on the internet.
Since I've been sharing fan art online since 2002

Knowing When to Put the Foot Down and Say No
I have a number of things I want to say on this topic, but before I do, there's this quote:
"Some of you are continuing to buy books you don't like. Some of you, I would venture, have been doing this for years. I direct this, with all the lovingkindness in my soul, to you:
The time has come to stop doing that.
Seriously.
Stop playing on their terms.
Because they've got you, and they know they do, because they've had you for years in some cases. They're holding you by the short-and-curlies, because they know, they absolutely know that if they publish something with "Bat" in the title, or the letter "X," or the word "Spider" you will buy i

What is it about a fictional character first introduced to the public in Great Britain in 1887 that has kept him being reincarnated, with generationally-correct upgrades, over and over again in film and on television? Who is this literary hero whose portrayal over the past century by such past masters as Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett to today’s vanguard talents Robert Downey, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch has inspired such a continuing outpouring of fan appreciation?

The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz (https://www.deviantart.com/alicexz) are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burnin
